The Doris North Gold Project was assessed by the NIRB from 2002 - 2006. It was approved to proceed on September 15, 2006 subject to the terms and conditions of Project Certificate No. 005. Modified from the 2005 Project Description: The Doris North Gold Mine Project is a gold mine and associated facilities located approximately 65 kilometres (km) to the east of Omingmaktok (Bay Chimo) and 110 km south of Cambridge Bay, in the Kitikmeot Region as proposed by Miramar Hope Bay Limited. The Project involves an underground gold mine and associated infrastructure with an ore processing capacity of 668 tonnes per day.

The project life of the mine is planned for five (5) years (1 year of construction, 2 years of operations, and 2 years of closure and post-closure activities) involving the processing 458,000 tonnes of ore to yield approximately 306,830 ounces of gold. Construction is proposed to start in 2007.

Project infrastructure includes an underground mine and ramp to access the workings, water management infrastructure; waste rock storage facilities, ore processing plant tailings impoundment facility, power plant, fuel tank farm(s), explosives storage area, airstrip (including a float plan dock), haul and service roads; water treatment plant, incinerator, sewage treatment facility, maintenance facility, and accommodations and camp facilities for up to 175 personnel.

Supplies are shipped to Roberts Bay during the open water season which includes a 103-metres jetty, and a laydown area. Transportation to the mine occurs via a 4.8 km all-weather access road.
