To continue the underwater archaeological investigation of the wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. The study can be divided, by site, into two main categories. For the wreck of Terror, where our archaeological study commenced in 2016, the aim is to continue the evaluation of the site in terms of condition, inventory, feature characteristics, archaeological potential and environmental setting. For the wreck of Erebus, where we have completed a comprehensive site evaluation, the aim will be to commence more in-depth study through excavation, while expanding our understanding of site inventory, archaeological potential and geographic extents. The common aim of work at both sites is to better understand the events of the Franklin Expedition.
