Hapag-Lloyd Cruises small expedition style cruise vessel Hanseatic Inspiration will make two Arctic voyages in 2022; all ports in Canada will be within Nunavut.The purpose of this proposed development is the carriage of passengers and crew members to landing sites in Nunavut. The company Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is an environmentally conscious operator that wants to offer to its passenger’s unique nature and culture experiences and to make them ambassadors for the Arctic. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has extensive experience in operating ships in remote areas and polar waters for more than 20 years. The expedition cruise of m/v Hanseatic Inspiration includes an experienced Bridge Team and Expedition Team including lecturers, such as biologists, geologists, ethnologists and historians, who offering daily lectures to the passengers. Hapag Lloyd is a member of AECO and follows the association's operational guidelines. The cruise line is also in compliance with Government of Nunavut’s Code of Conduct for Operators in Nunavut. The stops in Nunavut will be a combination of community visits, zodiac sightseeing, nature landings. While this particular voyage has been referred to NIRB, Hapag Lloyd has operated safely in Nunavut for a number of years and is looking forward to returning in 2023.
