The overall remedial objective for the site is to remediate the site to remove metal, petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination in soil that exceeds the federal Tier II CCME soil quality guidelines (i.e., remediation criteria). The three remediation areas are summarized as follows:- Area 1 – Approximately 157 m3 of contaminated soil based on an esti￰mated area of 341 m2 and an esti￰mated thickness of 0.46 m, with impacts present between 0.61 mbgs and 1.07 mbgs;- Area 2 – Approximately 60 m3 of PAH contaminated soil based on an area of 112 m2 and an esti￰mated thickness of 0.54 m, with impacts present at ground surface between 0 mbgs and 0.54 mbgs;- Area 3 – Approximately 61 m3 of PHC contaminated soil based on: an area of 100 m2 and an esti￰mated thickness of 0.61 m, with PHC impacts present between 0.76 mbgs and 1.37 mbgs;- Addi￰onal soil to be removed from Area 1A and Area 3 to access impacted soil – 35 m3; andESTIMATED TOTAL OF SOIL TO BE EXCAVATED AND DISPOSED OF AT THE LOCAL LICENSED LANDFILL/LANDFARM FACILITY: 313 m3.The contaminated soil will be excavated from the site and transported to the local landfill/landfarm for disposal.
