Tara worked in the Territories while completing her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan (major Plant Science, minor Soil science) and decided to stay in Cambridge Bay to raise a family. She joined the NIRB in early 2009, took on several roles in the technical/ operations department until becoming director of the department in 2015, and is a Certified Environmental Professional. In addition to her work, Tara enjoys being on the land, growing orchids, sewing, and experimenting with sustainable food production in an arctic climate.
