Amir Pourmahabadian

Amir is originally from Tehran, Iran, and works as a Senior Impact Assessment Officer at the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB). With a background in environmental management, consulting, technical research and, degrees in Sustainable Environmental Management, Biotechnology, and Environmental Engineering, he aims to contribute to reasonable and sustainable development in Northern Canada. In his role at NIRB, Amir is dedicated to promoting excellence in impact assessment, fostering meaningful public participation, and supporting ongoing knowledge and capacity building. He strives to strengthen organizational effectiveness and is committed to building strong relationships and collaboration with Nunavut communities, ensuring that development reflects local values and protects the region’s unique environment and people. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Amir enjoys hiking, swimming, and has a strong admiration for history, which inspires his appreciation for diverse cultures and landscapes.
