Kathleen (Kat) Hokanak is originally from Ulukhaktok, NT but moved to Kugluktuk, NU back in 2001 then moved to Cambridge Bay, NU in 2012. Kat started with NIRB on May 4, 2026, she used to work for NIRB back in 2020 in the same position (back then it was called the Environmental Administrator), on a contract term. Kat speaks English fluently and speaks the basics in Inuinnaqtun and Inuvialuktun. Her position with the NIRB is the Public Registry Coordinator, and she assists in the receipt and distribution of project proposals, acting as the first point in the impact assessment process and providing information or directing inquiries, and managing the flow of information. She has graduated from the Office Administration Certificate Program here in Cambridge Bay, NU and brings a variety of experience and previous knowledge into her role. Her hobbies and interests are going out to her cabin and spending time with her family and watching her children grow and flourish into their own little characters.
