Technical Advisor II
Keith was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, and began with the board in April 2017 as a Technical Advisor II. Prior to arriving in Nunavut, he worked with the NB Department of Lands and Resources as a field geology assistant and following graduation from the University of New Brunswick, as a mine geologist at a small antimony mine. In 1998, he came to Cambridge Bay and joined Nunavut Tunngavik’s Department of Lands and Resources, where he worked from 1998 to 2015, initially as Administrative Geologist and finally as Senior Advisor – Minerals, Oil and Gas. Following his time at NTI, he worked as a consultant for TMAC Resources before joining the NIRB. As a result of his work, he knows the mining industry from grassroots exploration to mining and closure; land and mineral tenure; land and resource issues; and the Nunavut Agreement. In his time with NTI he worked on issues ranging from managing mineral interests and negotiating for mineral rights to devolution negotiation to policy and legislation development. Keith resides in Cambridge Bay with his wife, a small herd of cats, and has been for several years the chief of the Cambridge Bay Fire Department. When he isn’t running off to deal with an emergency, in his spare time he reads far too much, edits for other writers, creates 3D graphic art, and watching movies. Keith is bilingual in English and French.
